The M/V Anakonda is the only luxury cruise liner in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. Its 20 suites, each with an area of 172-258 square feet, are equipped with air conditioning and 24-hour electricity, each with a private bathroom with hot water and all necessary amenities, allowing our guests to enjoy their cruise with nothing to worry about. To accommodate families, Anakonda offers 2 sets of interconnected suites.

Passengers can socialize in the dining room, bar, observation deck with two outdoor Jacuzzis and in the al fresco lounge. There is also a small boutique where passengers can purchase souvenirs, or perhaps some vanity products that may have been left behind at home.  Our guests will be assisted by our 25-person crew, including a concierge, purser, paramedic, 4 skilled nature guides, and 4 local guides.

Our guests may choose from four, five and eight-day itineraries, each one of them with spectacular highlights that will surely make every passenger trip a memorable experience. On our 8D/7N itinerary, we visit the Yasuni National Park, the Cuyabeno Wildlife reserve, and the Limoncocha and Pañacocha biological corridors, giving our passengers the opportunity to connect with the Ecuadorian Amazon and experience its wonders.

Travelers on board the M/V Anakonda will enjoy a wide variety of national and international fusion cuisine.  We take traditional and well-known cuisine from all over the world and adapt it using fresh, local products. It’s not unusual for our guests to enjoy unique fare such as Quinoa Risotto or the famous “Encocado de Pescado” an exquisite fish prepared in coconut sauce

Passengers’ journey will start by taking a flight, from Quito to El Coca (the Capital of the Orellana province). In 45 minutes passengers will arrive to El Coca’s airport to meet our staff and be transported by canoes to the M/V Anakonda.

FOUR DAYS – THREE NIGHTS ITINERARY

DAY 1 - SUNDAY: QUITO – COCA – NAPO RIVER

Departure from Quito.  A short 30-minute flight takes us to the frontier town of Coca (Francisco de Orellana) – and transfer to the dock, where we will embark on a motorized canoe and navigate down river about 1 hour, to board the M/V Anakonda Amazon CRUISE. Throughout the journey we have a chance to admire the rainforest landscape and banks of the great Napo River.
Immediately after boarding the M/V Anakonda, we continue navigating downstream. Passengers will have their first opportunities to enjoy the exciting features of our cruise ship: the spacious social areas, comfortable suites, and an observation deck that offers spectacular views. An evening walk is organized after sunset; it gives us the opportunity to discover the forest’s nocturnal activity and listen to the incessant sounds of nature..

DAY 2 - MONDAY: SANI WARMI - OBSERVATION TOWER

We will visit the Sani Warmi Kichwa Interpretation Center, where a group of Kichwa women will speak of their customs, cuisine and everyday life. They have created the center in order to showcase their culture, and it is a unique opportunity to learn about Amazonian lifestyles along the Napo River. You will also have the opportunity to buy crafts, local products and souvenirs.

In the afternoon, visit an observation tower 100-feet high, built against a giant kapok tree. From the top of the tower, we will be blessed with this unique perspective of the forest, looming over the treetops and the greatness of the Amazon Basin.

DAY 3 - TUESDAY: YASUNÍ NATIONAL PARK - YAKUKAWSAY

Breakfast on board. During this special walk within the Yasuni National Park, we will seek out the secret to Amazonia’s amazing biodiversity. Our expert naturalist guides will lead us through this veritable Garden of Eden, telling us about the wonders of the floral and faunal communities that make it so special.
After lunch, we will make a stop at the Yakukawsay Kichwa Interpretation Centre, and end with an interesting evening walk through the forest (depending on accessibility, river water levels and weather conditions).

In the morning, disembark the M/V Anakonda and transfer by motorized canoe to Coca (1-hour ride); flight to Quito.

DAY 2 - THURSDAY: BORDER THE COUNTRY (THE HEART OF YASUNÍ)

After a delicious breakfast, we disembark on land for our first daylight close-and-personal tropical rainforest experience, where we will learn about the relationship between plants and animals while closely watching out for samples of Amazonia’s fascinating biodiversity at every turn.

After lunch, the M/V Anakonda navigates to one of the most pristine and little explored sections of Ecuadorian Amazonia, home to the legendary pink river dolphin, black caiman and anaconda. We may also find river turtles and various species of monkeys, as well as the primitive Hoatzin, a one-of-a-kind bird locally known as "the Stinky Turkey". The only way to actually visit this flooded ecosystem is by canoe, a ride that will reveal the beauty of a lush jungle world.

DAY 3 - FRIDAY: MEETING THE COMMUNITY - ACTIVITIES ON BOARD - ISLAND EXPLORATION  

Breakfast on board. We visit a school located on the banks of the Napo River, where we will have the opportunity to interact with children of the area and learn about the educational system of a remote jungle community in Ecuador.

We return on board the M/V Anakonda for lunch and a moment to relax while we navigate upstream.  We will offer a lecture and documentary screening, and if time permits, learn about (and make) typical handicrafts of the area. In the afternoon, we explore one of the largest river islands of the Napo River.

DAY 4 - SATURDAY: PARROTS’ CLAY LICK OR WATER MUSEUM AND LIMONCOCHA BIOLOGICAL RESERVE

Breakfast on board. We set out to visit one of the most amazing spectacles this side of western Amazonia known as parrot licks, these unique pools of mud become rich in minerals and attract hundreds of parrots, parakeets and amazons every day. If weather permits, we will have a chance to marvel at this astonishing natural phenomenon. We will also visit a small community arts and crafts shop, an excellent place to find souvenirs to take back.

In the afternoon, we visit Limoncocha Biological Reserve, a fascinating protected area where more than 478 bird species and several monkey species have been recorded. This activity will extend into the evening, when we will have a chance to spot black caiman with the help of our flashlights. Return to the M/V Anakonda for dinner.

Napo Wildlife Center

The Napo Wildlife Center is one of the most beautiful ecolodges in the Ecuadorian Rainforest. This ecolodge is a true ecotourism project managed by the local Añangu Quichua community that conserves approximately 52,000 acres of the most pristine Amazonian Rainforest within the Yasunì National Park, considered one of the hot spots of biodiversity in the world.

The NWC is located in the northern Ecuadorian Amazon region (250 mts or 820 ft above sea level). To get there we will fly for 30 minutes from Quito to Coca and from here we take a motorized canoe and travel 82 kilometers (51 miles) along the river.

This rainforest ecolodge has 10 cottages that are built in keeping with traditional native architecture using long lasting materials to avoid deforestation. It offers a library, a bar that provides ice-cold drinks and a restaurant with carefully prepared meals. A reverse osmosis water filtration system is used in the kitchen.

The NWC has invested in the best environmentally sustainable sewage system, all wastewater is treated to the highest standards in order to keep the swamps clean of human activity. Also they use solar panels for electricity.

With 12 ample and comfortable cabins, the lodge accommodates a total of 36 people, distributed in suites, doubles and triple rooms.

It is fully equipped cabins feature 24-hour uninterrupted electricity, security box, ventilation and a private bathroom, with a balcony and hammock surrounded by beautifully groomed natural gardens.

The restaurant, serving local, national and international food, has a maximum capacity of 50 people.

Itinerary

DAY 1.- FROM THE HIGHLANDS TO THE RAIN FOREST (Yasuní Kichwa Ecolodge)

You have to be at Quito's national airport at 9h50 approximately to catch your Coca's flight. At Coca's airport, a representative of Yasuni Lodge will greet you and drive you to the pier where a motorized canoe will be waiting to travel by Río Napo in order to star your trip in the Amazon, The canoe trip down the river takes about two hours, box lunch on route.

During the navigation you will see birds such as herons, kingfishers, terns and other shore birds species and beautiful landscapes.

Arriving at Yasuní Kichwa Ecolodge, visitors are warmly welcome with a traditional drink, lunch at the Ecolodge.

In the afternoon, you will have a short walk down to the banks of the Napo River to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the beaches and islands naturally return for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2.- Sumak Kausay Itinerary

After breakfast you will departure to an amazing parrot salt lick with where you will be able to watch about 11 species of parrots, parakeets and scarlet macaws in Un certain seasons, of course depends on luck and Weather Conditions.

Later we will go the path parrot for a walk in the primary forest where we will know the lemon tree ants, ancient kapok trees, mistletoes, cane bamboo, vines and shrubs, climb to an observation tower of 35 m. Everything will depend on the river water level, weather conditions, wildlife behavior, and accessibility to the location.

Back on board our lunch will be ready, and in the afternoon, there will be a visit to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, an incredible area to find lots of birds, some monkeys, and at night a search for the black caiman. Return to the MANATEE at night.
